I have been involved in the Waihinga Centre Project since 2013. Firstly out of concern for the future of the Martinborough Town Hall and later as the Client Representative, Trust Board Member, Fundraising Chair and Project Co-ordinator.

It was a happy day indeed when we opened the first stage of the project in December 2018. The building was designed by, our design competition winners, Architects Warren and Mahoney and Landscape Architects Wraight and Associates. They have done an amazing job of fulfilling our brief and the centre is light and airy and reminiscent of the rural architecture and landscape features found in the Wairarapa Region.

The new part of the building sits adjacent to the refurbished Town Hall and houses the Library, Destination Wairarapa I-Site, Knucklebone Coffee Bar and the Toy Library.

We were lucky to have experienced Project Manager Dave Borman on board along with Construction Firm Riggs Zchokke lead by Mike Arnopp. While they are still finishing off a few bits and pieces we are thrilled with the job they have done.

We hope to get stage 2 of the project - The Park and Playground underway shortly.
